Request: FEDELA; 3rd BN, 30th Infantry Regiment
Hello:
I'm looking for men from the 3rd BN, 30th Infantry Regiment who were in Fedela in mid to late November 1942.
I am writing a book focusing upon a freighter that unloaded in Fedela from 18 November to 24 November 1942, with gasoline in cans and 90MM ammunition etc.
I want to correspond with anyone who might have had a hand in unloading the ship, the S.S. SANTA MARGARITA, a C2-S-B1 freighter. Theron P. Snell, Ph.D

Comments: Sp/4 Served in Aschaffenburg, Germany from 6/66 through 1/68, "A" Battery 2nd Battalion 41st Artillery. Interested in hearing from anyone out there who I may have served with. Especially Sgt. Charles Raffa, and Sp/4 Jim (Mack) McKelvey. The best I can remember is that Charlie was from New York, and Mack was from Philadelphia. I know that doesn't narrow it down to much, but hey man, I'm reaching out to two of the greatest guys in the world. So, I'm a knockin', and if there is anyone home lets here from you. It's been to many years since we've seen or heard from each other.

machine gun

You say that the water cooled 30 caliber machine gun was widely used during ww2.
Can you substantiate that since I did combat in Europe and never saw one in action. Thank you and regards, Pierre Rinfret

This photo is on the Weapons page of the World War II Memoirs-3rd Infantry Division website. If you have any info on this type of machine gun, please share it with us. Thank you.

The History Channel on it's Tale of the Gun program Monday, July 17th had a very interesting story about machine guns, and the Browning M1-Model 1919 .30 caliber shown above.

Comments: I am trying to locate information on my Great Uncle, Antonio D'Alessio D.O.D: 5/27/44 7th. Infantry Regiment, 3rd Division.
He was killed during the invasion of Leyte Island.
Editor's note: This is probably wrong, as the Date of Death places the 7th Infantry Regiment in Italy, not in the Pacific.
Some information says he died: May 27, 1944. But church records say he wasn't buried until September 16, 1948. It is said that he received a Purple Heart, but I can't find any proof.. Please help if you can, and if you can't please put me in touch with someone who
might be able too.
