Comments:
How many casualties did the 7th regiment have in the Korean War. My
father served in 1950 and 1951... from Pusan to Chosen Reservoir. He
had many friends who did not come home. Some he did not see after
various battles. He did not know if they were separated or if they
did not make it. Is there a list of KIA's from the 7th regiment. He
was in the headquarters company for the 7th. He worked with Capt.
Olin E. Smith. Thank you for taking the time. I'm returning to Korea
to receive an honorary doctoral degree this fall. Will be traveling
through parts of Korea in late October.

Subject: Looking for information -313 Sad Sacks WWII
Comments: My father-in-law served in WWII as a Tec 5. We recently
came across a photo album with pictures from the war. (He died in
1989 - never wanted to discuss the war. What a treasure to find this
album!!) There are some pictures in it with the sign "313 Sad Sacks"
(apparently a reunion once they were back in the states). We also
found envelopes from him addressed from the 313th Ordnance Depot
Company. We have tried every search engine and cannot turn up the
313th. Thinking this is a part of the 3rd Army??? Pictures show time
spent in Belgium, Paris, Italy, and Germany. He did talk of freezing
his feet in Italy. He enlisted 7/18/1941. Postcards are dated
9/18/1944. We have sent for his DD2 but are anxious to find out
more. Are we on the right track? His name was James Ishmael Dennis.

Name: Daniel McIntyre
E-mail: dmacny@yahoo.com
Subject: Lt. John W. McIntyre
Comments: My father John McIntyre served as a Lt. in World War II.
I,m trying to locate which unit he served with. I know he did basic
in
in Georgia, officers candidate school in Puerto Rico and shipped out
to Europe from Camp Shanks N.Y. He served in France, Holland,
Belgium and Germany. During this time he worked in the motor pool
and on an anti aircraft gun battery. I recently found pictures of my
dad at Berchtesgaden that resembled the scenes from the Band of
Brothers at the Eagles Nest. I don't believe he served in the 101st
and after reading about the controversy regarding the Steven Ambrose
version of the taking of the eagles nest I think that maybe he
served in the 3rd infantry.
My dad stayed in Berchtesgaden and was installed as a sort of
military "mayor" of the town during the occupation. Like many
veterans of that era my dad spoke very little of his time in the
service and now that he has passed away most of that information has
gone with him. I would like to be able to find out what unit he
served with. |
