Comments: I was wondering if you could release my father's
non-classified records to me, his daughter. Unfortunately my father
and mother divorced when I was 13 and my four younger siblings and I
never really got to know anything about him, partly because of the
separation and partly because he didn't talk about his childhood or
military service. I know he served 3 tours honorably in Vietnam, and
flew A-4s and A-6s. He got out of the Marine Corps soon after I was
born in Bethesda, Md, 1975. I would like to be able to give my
brothers and my sons something to know about my father. Thanks for
any help you can provide. |

Comments: I recently became aware my Father "Ted" had a child with a
beautiful woman by the name of Ingaborg. I do not know her surname,
but understand she lived in Bamburg. My GI Father was stationed in
Bamburg, Nuremburg and Crailsheim areas from 1961 to 1964. He left
Germany in Feb, 1964. I am led to believe there was at least one
son, possibly a second. I have one sister and we would love to meet
our German sibling(s) and Ingaborg, in the hope she is still alive.
I will be visiting Europe the end of July (09) and would welcome the
chance to meet. Please respond!! |

Looking for photos, any info at all, or resources to find people who
may have photos or info about my grandfather. I never met him, he
died of cancer before I was born. He was in the 3rd Recon Troop, 3rd
infantry division. He landed in Casablanca and went home after
reaching Naples. He was about 20 years old when he came home to
Michigan. Before he was in the 3rd recon he was in the 177th Field
Artillery.
I have one photo from Italy, specific location unknown.

Subject: RESEARCH
Hi, very good website you have, enjoyed the reading. I'm currently
researching my grandfather's information during WWII and it's like
pulling teeth. I currently have his Silver Star and Purple Heart(3
clusters) and the other medals have been distributed throughout the
family. Now trying to find the certificates that go with them is
another story that tells why he received all his medals. We do have
a few of his letters still which is no easy feat with this family.
The letters are when he was in Company A, 7th Infantry 3rd Division,
the first letter was dated August 21, 1944 from Italy and the second
is December 14, 1944 from France.
Going through St. Louis is like pulling teeth, they say because I'm
a grandchild, I'm not the surviving child, even when I doing all the
work getting information. Also, my grandfather won the "croix de
guerre " I believe that is what my father said. I don't know much
about the Army, so I'm reaching out to those that do. My
grandfather's name was Patrick Dunn and I believe a 1st Sergeant or
something like that during that time.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Comments: Hello, I am doing research on an uncle who served with the

website on the net last night. I have already sent for his personnel
records from St. Louis and they were very limited. I think his
original ones were destroyed in the 1973 fire. I was wondering where
else I might look. I would like to get After Action Reports from the
battle he was killed in, or perhaps General Orders for that event.
Would the 3rd Infantry keep records on him? I also need to get a
confirmation of his Purple Heart. I often wonder if there are still
people alive who may have know him in the 3rd Infantry. Could you
please help me to get the information that I need, or tell me where
I can. Thank You Very Much for reviewing my letter!
