Subject: Edward John Bukowski-WW2 Request
Comments: Hello, I am writing about my Grandfather,
Edward John Bukowski. His 90th Birthday is on
December 14th and I would LOVE to put a biography of
his WW2 participation together for him. Here is what
I know so far:
Name: Edward John Bukowski
DOB: December 14, 1920
Place of Birth: Illinois
Place of Enlistment: Erie , Pennsylvania
His Basic Training was at Camp Van Dorn ,
Mississippi
After Basic Training, he landed in Morocco …then
went to Sicily …then up the Italian boot…all the way
to Southern/Eastern France. He dodged many bullets
along this path….thru Rome ; Monte Casino; Naples
and Venice . He said that he was VERY lucky to be
alive! He was in the 10th Mountain Division of, I
believe, the 393rd Infantry Division (99th Infantry
Division). Morocco, Sicily , Italian boot, Southern
France, Rome , Monte Cassino & Naples . There was
only one unit that was at all those locations, the
3rd Infantry Division.
In the unit history of the 3rd Infantry Division. On
page 451 I found listed PFC Edward J. Bukowski. He
was a member of the 7th Infantry Regiment, 3rd
Infantry Division. Could this be my Grandfather? If
so, do you have any information you can send my way?
I am really excited and look forward to hearing from
you.
Take care,
Mary Bukowski

Note: The Pfc Edward J. Bukowski listed on page 451
of the book "History of the 3rd Division in WWII"
was a member of the 7th Infantry Regiment and maybe
one of his comrades will contact you. |

Subject: Front Line paper
Hi, I have just found a special edition farewell
mock-up made for my father S/Sgt. William Arthur
Dryden who was managing editor of the Third Division
"Front Line" publication in WWII. I haven't seen
anything else on this little company paper; do you
have any info on it?
At the top of the front page under the flag name
FRONT LINE are the words: Korbach Bad Wildungen,
which may be where the men made the paper while in
Germany. It's dated March 2, 1946 which was about
the date my father left for home.
I know this isn't much detail but I'd love to know
anything at all about this little publication; not
just the mock-up his men made for his departure but
the day-to-day operations of the paper as well.
Thanks very much for your kind attention,
Marlene Dryden

15th, and 30th Infantry Regiments in WW2
Comments:
I have just started a big work on map for the months
of August and September 1944 in Southern France. I
was able to obtain a few AAR's from the 36th
Division and the 45th but I have no clue on how to
obtain AAR's for the 7th, 15th and 30th regiments
and perhaps the 3rd Recon Troop. Do you have any of
these? If not do you know someone whom I could ask?
I managed to find a program which translates WW2 map
coordinates into actual 2010 map coordinates. I'm
really having fun pinpointing certain ambushes and
roadblocks.
I will be in Southern France mid August for the
ceremonies.
With kind regards from Switzerland,
Gilles |

Comments: I'm looking for a Cabral family that was
stationed at Leighton Barracks in Wurzburg, Germany
during the early 1960s. I think he was a sergeant in
the 3rd Infantry Division and they flew back to
Hawaii after his tour of duty. There was a daughter
named Cynthia Cabral, who was born in June 1952, but
that's about all I know.
Thank you. |

Subject: Pfc Domingo S. Ledesma - 7th Infantry
Regiment - Company L
Comments: I have been working on our family
geneology for the last 3-4 years. I am close to
completing it with the exception of one great uncle
- Domingo S. Ledesma - who was killed-in-action on
10/13/43.
According to the bits of information that I have
been able to come up with, the date of death
corresponds with the Volturno River Crossing.
I made an attempt to get some information directly
from the military personal records division but was
informed that only immediate family members could
get the information. Since Domingo's mother, father,
brother and sister have passed, that option is
closed.
Fortunately, I ran across this website and wanted to
ask if anyone has information on my great uncle.
Anything would be greatly appreciated.
According to the info I was able to obtain, he was
in the 3rd Infantry Division, 7th Infantry Regiment,
Company L. His date of death is 10/13/43. His body
was returned in 1946 and he is buried in San
Antonio, Texas - San Fernando Cemetery.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Webmaster's Note:
Pfc Domingo S. Ledesma is listed in the book
"History of the 3rd Infantry Division in WWII" on
page 463, as a member of the 7th Infantry Regiment
and Died of Wounds. |
