Subject: Corporal Wilson I. Flowers
Comments: I am looking for information (photo) if my grandfather, Wilson I.
Flowers. He was a corporal in Company D, 13th Infantry. He enlisted into the
army on August 12, 1914 through Columbus Barracks, Ohio. He departed the
United States on October 5, 1914 and served in the Philippine Islands, returning
to the United States on August 14, 1917. He was honorably discharged from the
Army on June 4, 1920 at Hoboken, New Jersey.
If you could locate a photo of Wilson I. Flowers (whose name was actually
Isaac Wilson Flowers), please, please let me know. I never met my grandfather
nor have i ever seen a photo of him. It is my wish that I and my three
sisters and brother will be able to finally put a face with the name.
Thank you for any help you can give me in my search for a picture of Wilson
(Isaac).
Sincerely,
Katherine Austin

Subject: Picture, A Co, 38th Inf/38th

Comments: As you know most companies take a company picture. I have a
tough one for you. Is there any way that I can get a copy of one. I was with
A co. 2nd BG, 38th Inf 3rd Div. from March 1961 to
April 1963, then A co 2nd Bn, 30th Inf. also the
3rd Div. from April to Oct. 1963. I think the company picture was taken 1961
or 1962. Are these stored somewhere? I am more then
willing to pay for a copy of it. I am sure a lot of folks would like to have
one if possible.
Would you please let me know either way.
Thanks for your help

Subject: Looking for Gus Holley - 153rd Infantry - WWI
Comments: Dear Sir:
I'm hoping you can tell me more about my great-uncle. He served in WWI (lied
about his age) and WWII. Its' my understanding that he served in France and
was gassed, but survived and later went on to serve in WWII. He would have
been stationed at first, I think at Camp Pike.
His full formal name was Marion Augustus Holley, but he went by
"Gus." The birth date on his death certificate is listed as Nov 26,
1896, and he died April 29, 1962. He was originally born in Delhi,
Louisiana... but his sister (my grandmother) lived most all her life in
Lonoke County, Arkansas, and he may have enlisted from there (Her name was
Elizabeth Rogers, later Elizabeth Ellis.) His mother was Gussie Rogers, later
Gussie Beauchamp. She lived for a time in Lonoke County, Arkansas also - and
died there.
I have very little other information and would like to know more. Any
assistance you can give would be deeply appreciated.
Thanks.

Subject: Clyde Dick of 3rd Infantry in Stuttgart 1962?
Comments: Hello,
I’m a personal historian working with a client to write his memoir. He served
in the 3rd Infantry in Stuttgart in 1961 to 1963, in special services. I’m
looking for a buddy who was with him at the time named Clyde Dick. Ideally,
if the gentleman is still living, my hope is to speak with him and perhaps
gather some photos from that time of him and my client.
I’m not familiar with the military system and had no idea how difficult it
would be to find this person. If you have suggestions or a way of being of
assistance it would be greatly appreciated. I would very much like to
surprise my client with photos he does not own himself of his time in the
service in Germany.
Thanks for any assistance!
Sherry Borzo Personal Historian
515.274.6703 office, 515.707.9455 cell
Sherry,
The 3rd Infantry Division did not have any units in Stuttgart in 1962. Almost
all divisional units were located in northern Bavaria - Wuerzburg,
Kitzingen, Schweinfurt, Bad Kissingen,
Wertheim, Aschaffenburg, Wildflecken and Bamberg.
There was one battalion, the 1st Battalion, 4th Infantry, in Heilbronn, which
is located 34 miles north of Stuttgart, so this may be his old unit.
Clyde Dick is not listed as a current member of the Society of the 3rd
Infantry Division.
Not knowing the soldier's unit, it would be difficult to do much more
research.

Subject: 3rd Division at Fedala, WWII
Comments: Hello:
As part of a book on a WWII era freighter (the S.S. SANTA MARGARITA), I am
trying to identify the unit that unloaded her at Fedala
around November 18th, 1942. Part of the D+5 follow-up convoy, She was
carrying gasoline in 55 gal drums, 90MM AA guns, vehicles and 90MM AA
ammunition.
I thought the men were from 2nd BN, 20th Engineers…but they left Fedala before the ship got there. The troops may have
been QM troops either from the 3rd QM Company or from troops attached to the
3rd Infantry Division. I am looking for help to ID the unit and even better
to locate someone involved.
Thank you in advance for your time and effort!
