I am doing some pre-WWII research and am trying to find out if Companies G and H of the 7th Infantry were even active before 1939. Companies E and F were the garrison for Alaska at Chilkoot Barracks. The rest of the 7th Infantry Regiment was at Vancouver Barracks. If anyone can tell me if Companies G and H were also at Vancouver Barracks at this time or if they were inactivated before the war I would appreciate the info, can't seem to find the info anywhere. Over the years he would never talk about his time in the Army. His name is Ralph G. Gould, Born 8/28/1917 in Somerville Mass. He was inducted in Dec 0f 42. If I remember right, he was also discharged in Dec of 44 or 45 at Fort Devens , Mass. . I do know that he served as a radio man or lineman repairing phone communications. He was wounded in the right leg in Germany . Dad would never give us his service number, or much more information. Years ago, he did have a book on the History of the 3rd in World war Two. I I have tried to locate a copy of the book, but have had no luck. Dad passed away on June 27th 2011 in Lowell , Mass at the age of 93. He was buried at Puritan lawn Memorial Park in Lynnfield , Mass. At his request, there was no military funeral.
