Subject: Looking for Unit

Comments: I am trying to find units my father-in-law who was in WWII (now deceased) may have beeen attached to. His records were destroyed in the fire in St Louis. He was awarded a purple heart in France Sept 25th '44. He was also awarded the Southern France and Rhineland Campaign ribbons. I know the 3rd,36th and 45th Infantry Divisions were the units in the invasion Anvil-Dragoon. Any info you may have of morning reports or wounded lists would be greatly appreciated. The name is as follows:

Richard W. Girard PFC
36 588 614
Bay City, Michigan

Subject: Herbert W. Hertzog

Comments: I am looking for any information about my dad Herbert W Hertzog Jr. He served in Co A, 317th Inf Div in France Nov-Dec 1944. Only one time did he ever discuss a bit of what happened to him. His unit was bombarded for over 12 hrs + near Macheren, France. I remember he stated the unit was hit hard, many casualties, and the rest were transferred to the other units.... He was in the Army 1939-1945.
Thank You,
Lyn M Hertzog (USAF 1968-1972)

Comments: Hello – A veteran’s memorial is being constructed in my town, Tremont, IL. Memorial blocks are being sold and we would like to include our grandfather, John Edwin Oyer. We believe that he was in Co B, 30th Infantry, 3rd Division based on a photo that we have dated 7/17/1919 in Mayen, Germany. We are trying to determine what years he was in the army. Would you be able to help?
Thank you.
