Chateau Thierry and finally, the Battle of Verdun where he was wounded and sent home
(within two weeks of his mother dying in the 1919 flu epidemic and his brother drowning
in the Skukyhill River, Philadelphia). He was a member of the Third Infantry Association

Hello, I just discovered your web site and it is great. Could you
recommend a book(s) that focuses on the Marne Division during World War I?
I am real interested in personal recounts of their experiences.
I happen to own an original helmet from that era that was painted with
the division patch, the American flag, and numerous other flags that may
be "state" flags from this soldiers travels in Europe during that time.
It is an interesting piece of war history that I have hung on to for
over thirty years since purchasing it at a yard sale in southern
California when I was a kid. Any help would be appreciated.

I am working on an article for Military History Magazine about the activities

From this battle the 3rd was forever called the "Rock of the Marne".
My question is: Does your organization carry photograph reproductions for sale
showing 3rd division personnel during this time period? In particular a picture
of General Joseph Dickman and/or other officers?
Many thanks for your time.

Request: What's up Marne Dogs. Just trying to find some buddies out there. I served in the division twice.
First time was in Germany from Nov 88 until Oct 91. I was in A 6/41 FA. I've been trying to get some Gulf
War data from the web but every place I go only list 2/41 FA as going to the Gulf. I wish someone would fix
that.
My second tour was when the division re-flagged at Ft. Stewart, GA. I was there from Jul 95 until Nov
98 in A 3/41 FA (later changed to 1/9 FA). This would be a very disappointing time for me because the
commanding general at the time of the reflagging changed the words to the division song to make it politically
correct or gender neutral. This was very wrong I think. If you have ever served in the 3RD you would know
why. No one person should be allowed to change history or forget the men (and women) who forged that
history with their lives. Well enough of that, if you remember me or just want to chat e-mail me. ROCK OF

I am looking for a copy of Yank Magazine....could be called the best of Yank.
In the magazine is a tongue in cheek description of the Army's Whistle, tenderly referred to as the US Army Whistle,
Thunder M1. A part of the description includes "The whistle cylinder, the whistle, cylinder, reverberating cork, the
upper and lower teeth guard assembly's and the compressing blow channels.
This was a bit of humor paraphrasing the military nomenclature system. I think I last saw it in an Army library about 1952 or so.
I could appreciate your father's stint in the service. I, too, was a military photographer.
If you can help me find this magazine or the original column I would certainly appreciate it.

Hi, My name is Bill Todd, and I run a website that is dedicated to the

My website URL is: http://www.geocities,com/twelfthaviation/index.html
Part of one of my website pages that I'm developing is a short history

I've been led to believe that the 3rd Aviation company was one such
unit. I'm trying to locate sources for data, deployments, photo's,

Please give my E-mail to anyone concerned with the 3rd Aviation

Tank Destroyer Battalion which was attached to various Divisions and Armies including the Third Infantry
Division during WWII. I have very little information on his war experiences but am desperately trying to
collect anything to honor his memory.
I am especially trying to contact any of his tank crew who served with him. They are S/Sgt Girlando
Castranova (Tank Commander), Tech 5 Tony Carlucce (Radioman), Tech5 Joseph M. DeJulius (Asst.
Gunner), Pfc. Elmer Ballantini (Loader), Pvt. John F. Amaro (Gunner).
Also like information of Thomas Kelly, who my dad noted as a fighting fool and the pride of the 601st, and Colonel Walter Tardy, who
my dad said was the best damn colonel in the whole army. Finally I would to locate a copy of the battle record
of the Third Division which gives details of the 601st' part in WWII. Please respond if you can help?
