Subject: Am Wanting to find the location of my wife's brother HOWARD FLADD
grave.
Comments: Howard Fladd was from Trout Run, PA. I understand he was killed in the
"Battle of the Bulge".
I think he was a foot soldier. I know that's not much to go on but I was
wondering if there's a place to find names
at the grave or from military records. I've been to the memorial site but unless
I overlooked it I didn't see a place
to find names. The family seems to know little and has about given up on
locating the grave for certain.
I never met Howard but have said prayers for him and all others that lost their
lives over there.
Another brother Kenny who is still alive was on the gliders that went into
France I think.
And another Brother George who is deceased was a pow in Korea. Any information would
be appreciated.

I know he was in Africa, Italy, France, and Germany, but I don't know everything
about where he had been.
He was a medic on the front lines and I'm sure there were a lot of GI's that he
must've helped during that time.
My father-in-law was one of them that my dad dug shrapnel out of. His name is
Harold Armstrong.
After 38yrs he decided to look my dad up, though dad died in 1985, the year
before,
but I got to meet his daughter Jean! I like to tell people our relationship
started during WWII.

Subject: Reclamation of Fathers medals (deceased 1979)
Comments:
I am trying to locate my father's WWII Victory medal, and Army of occupation
medal. His name was John Gilbert Briggs;
enlistment date December 19, 1945. Serial #AF46037697. His place of
separation was Camp McCoy, WI.
After my father's death, on November 17,1979, we were under the impression that
he had kept his medals
with his discharge documents. After my mother died in 1998, all archival
documents and memorabilia
were placed in my care. I don't know who to contact or how to even open an
inquiry as to the whereabouts or
perhaps even replacement of these medals. I would very much like for my
son (16in July) who holds all men
who fought for our freedom in high esteem. He was born after my father
passed away, and this could be the
only link he has with my father. Any help would be appreciated.

My dad passed away in October and I guess I'm just trying to put some pieces
together from his tour in WWII.

Subject: Lost Dog Tags
Two dog tags have just been found in the Kunheim-Neuf Brisach area where the
3rd was in February 45. One tag belonged to Joseph J. RANKE, serial number
16065160, Catholic, T42. Address: Mrs Anna Ranke, 4761 S. Aubin, Detroit, MI.
There was one tag in this case. In the other one there were two: Gerald D.
Duval, 38875881, T43-44, no address. Both had blood type 0 and were
Catholics. Is it possible to check if they are still alive or if anyone knows
anything about them? From the list of names at the end of the 3rd Division
book, the first guy was not a casualty and he belonged to the 15th Regiment.
Thanks if you can help locate them.
Re yours concerning Joseph J. Ranke.
During part of the WW2 he was my driver and later gunner in Cannon Co. l5th Inf.
Regt.
He is listed as member of Society and keeps in touch with me.
Address: 7030 Newton Ave. No., Brooklyn Center, MN 55430-l039.
He was a good soldier. Joe is alive and well. As for the inquiry
concerning Duval - found no Gerald Duval.
Glad to be of help.

Subject: Searching for Birthplace
Comments: My father, Henry Elmer Rhea Sr. was a [Drill?] Sergeant in Co D, 370th
AIB, APO 29, US Army.
I have no idea what that all means, trying to find out. That is the
residence on my Birth certificate, along with
"in Munchen: Kolner Platz 1" on my German Birth certificate. I
was born in Munich, Germany, in October 1955
in the Second Field Hospital, Richard D. Ekroth, Major, was the physician that
delivered me. I was baptized in
the Chapel of the US Army Hospital by Joseph J. Weindorf, Auxiliary Chaplain.
My proxy Godparents are
V.F. McCormick, Jr. and Lillian Brill. My father was in Germany from June, 29,
1954 until we left in or around 1957.
I am searching for any of these people or information on the hospital, city, or
what AIB means, etc.
My dad didn't talk much around us children and I would really like to know about
my birthplace,
the army and the people around me at that time. Thanks, you may email me
at alienkam@yahoo.com
