Subject: Sgt. Nick H. Gebhart

Comments:
My uncle Sgt. Nick H. Gebhart enlisted Oct. 14, 1940. He trained at Fort Lewis,
and elsewhere, and left Oct 22 1942 from Camp Pickton, VA for North Africa.
Was in invasion of French Morocco Nov. 7, 1943, in Tunisian and Sicilian campaigns.
Battle of Salerno. KIA Oct. 14th, 1943 Member Company E, 7th Infantry, 3rd Division.

I recently received a collection of his letters and would like to flesh them out
with whatever historical information might be available, or with other personal accounts.
Many of his letters are brief with no news that would pass the censor. Have no photos.
His brother, George Gebhart, was sent to OCS and was a Lt. in the same division.
Thanks to anyone willing to share memories.

Subject: Looking for ADA comrades from Germany

Comments:
I served from 1988-1991 in the 3rd ID, specifically the Air Defense batallion that was 3/67 ADA,
and later deactivated and became 4/3 ADA. I was in Delta Battery, 1st Platoon, stationed in Kitzingen
during German reunification. Anyone from my old unit is welcomed to fire me off an email or call.

Also, (somewhat unrelated) as I am a civilian now, and can not acquire the insignia or unit crests,
I could use some help in locating a 3rd ID unit crest to wear on my suit lapel (to pay homage).
I'm talking about the division crest which has the lion and "Nous Resterons La".
If you can help me obtain one, please contact me using the above info. Thanks!

Subject: SSgt Elmer H. Lawing; C Co 30th Inf; WW II

Comments:
Would like to hear from anyone with memories of my uncle, SSgt Elmer H. Lawing, C Co 30th Infantry.
He was with this outfit for more than two years, from North Africa through Sicily, Anzio, and the landings
in southern France.  He was awarded his second Silver Star four days after those landings,
though specifically for what action I do not know.

He also collected five Purple Hearts before finally being Killed in Action on January 24, 1945.
This happened on the first or second day of the operation to eliminate the "Colmar Pocket".
As a boy I heard stories of a postwar visit to my grandmother by a man who had lost a hand
to the same tank shell that took off my uncle's legs, and claimed his life a few hours later.

This unit, like all the rifle companies in the Third Infantry Division, saw much hard service.
The company commander was one of the Division's numerous recipients of the Congressional Medal of Honor.
Id love to hear from any veterans from this company and especially from any who might recall my uncle.

Comments:
I'm looking for any information you might have on my Uncle Philip M. Besch who was killed in action
on April 13, 1945 near Bamberg, Germany.  The information I have is as follows:
He was guarding some German prisoners near a small German village when the German Airforce
dropped personnel bombs and one landed near him killing him instantly.

He was in the 3rd Infantry Divsion, 15th Infantry regiment, either 3rd or 2nd battalion.
His service number is 39475959 and he's buried at Lorraine American Cemetery in France.
I believe he was either near two villages named Mulhendorf and Erlau.  I would like to know exactly
where he was killed and if anyone could possible have been in his battalion or where I can get this information.

Subject: Information about my father  C.E. "Bud" Fairclo

Comments:
My dad served with the 15th Infantry, 3rd Division, Company L. He fought in North Africa,
Sicily, Italy and Anzio. He was the one selected from his company to plant the flag at Casablanca
when they surrendered. Anyone know how I could get a picture of that?
He was highly decorated...I'm a son in search of his father's footsteps through WW2.

I am a descendant of 2 gentlemen who were reputed to have fought in the Battle of the Bulge.
Unfortunately most of that side of my family has either past on, or suffers from Alzheimer's.

I am looking for information on two brothers named Olden (or Olen) and Robert "Bud" Boise.
They were reported to be motorcycle messengers, but Dad could no longer remember what unit his uncles fought with.

Please provide any information possible.  My brother and I are WWII re-enactors supporting the liaison plane assigned to
Bastogne during that battle.
