My grandfather Warren Reith (Pvt. 1st Class, deceased 1986) served in the
7th Machine Gun battalion, Company A in WWI. I am told he was part of the
original "Rock of the Marne" unit at the River Marne. Warren never
spoke much about the incredibly experience and bravery these men endured during
this great battle but I am researching the event and this unit and would like
to learn more. If there are any survivors living, or relatives of a
survivor that served with Warren or knew anything about his service during this
time, please contact me. I am particularly searching for any old photo's
of Warren or his unit. His discharge paper dated Sept. 2, 1919, states he
enlisted July 2, 1917 at Camp Syracuse New York and served outside the US from
April 2 1918 to August 23, 1919. (The Army misspelled his name as
"Warner"). His unit was listed as “Company A, 7th Machine Gun
Battalion”. He never spoke to us about his time overseas other than the fact
that he was slightly wounded with Gas at one time.
Please email or call. Thank you.

Hello, We are Elske (15 years old) and Evelien (16 years old) and we are two girls from the Netherlands. We are
doing a research for a school assignment about the Liberation in 1945. We have to research the World War II and liberation
experiences of civilians and soldiers during the period 1944-1945. We have to interview veterans and survivors. The aim of
the project is to assemble an oral history of American and other Allied participation in the liberation of the
Netherlands during World War II, as well as the courage and endurance of the Dutch people. The deadline for our project is in March or April 2000,
so we've got plenty of time left.
If you are a World War II veteran or survivor or if you know a World War II veteran or survivor or if
you have got any information that might be useful for the assignment, please let us know by sending us a letter or an e-mail.
Thank you so much.

I am looking for info on my grandfather, John M. Carothers, who was killed March 23, 1945.
Supposedly he was killed clearing the Saar-Moselle Triangle. I am not sure of the division he was in, but
some accounts say he was in the 31st battalion, 161st armored division, some say he was in the 10th
armored division. If anyone can clarify the date, event, division mystery or if anyone knew
him, please contact me.

Hello, I have reason to believe that the 3rd Reconnaissance
Troop was on board the USS Tasker H Bliss during the journey
to North Africa for Operation Torch. My grandfather was also
on this ship but in the Navy. Anyone who knows someone who was in this unit please contact me. The ship was
torpedoed after unloading its men outside the harbor of Casablanca.
Thank you for your help!
My father was Fred D. Sims from Louisiana, he served
in World War II and was in Normandy and in other parts of France in 1944. I have pictures of him and
some of his buddies in Paris after liberation. I would like to hear from anyone who served with him
during this, Thanks.

I am looking for information on my father Robert Carl Reidenbach who served with Co.A 1st
Battalion 15th Infantry during WWII.
I am most interested in finding anyone who may have served with him
who may have information about him knocking out two German Tanks with a bazooka. I am not sure
where this may have happened, France or Germany? But I was told that he was put in for the Silver Star
for his actions, and that it made it to Battalion but apparently the person that was to process it further up
the chain, was killed and it ended there.
If anyone has any information about this, it would be greatly
appreciated, if they would contact me via e-mail, letter or telephone:
I would also like to tell you that I think you site is great and that I have put it in my Favorites on my

WWII Germany's "baby-faced divisions"
The Redaktion Zeitgeschichte in the Department of Contemporary History at the ZDF Broadcasting Service
in Germany is currently looking for American WWII Veterans who had any contact with the so called
"baby-faced divisions", either in combat or in the POW camps, in 1945. Towards the end of WWII, the Hitler
regime sent these boys, in their early teens, into the battlefield as soldiers in the German "Volkssturm" (People's Army), fighting irrational
battles against Allied tanks and soldiers.
The ZDF is preparing a documentary television series on the German Youth under Adolf Hitler and would be
very interested in speaking with any American WWII Veterans who witnessed this. If you had any
contact(s) with these young soldiers or if you know of any other Veterans who may have had any
contact(s) with them,
please feel free to contact me as soon as possible with a brief description including approximate
date(s) and/or location(s) if possible.
Finally, if your interested in WWII history, The Smithsonian Institution is conducting a forum,
"Historians and Soldiers Remember World War II" from 1/27/00 to 3/2/00 in Wash., DC. The Registration Code
is: AXDS. The website is: http://www.si.edu/tsa/com
Thank you for your help.
