Comments: I am looking to find anyone who might have known my dad during his 4
years of service
with the 3rd Infantry Division. He served in Africa and Europe, was a forward artillery
observer,
and saw very though duty like so many of the brave me he served with and
loved.
My dad wasn't the type to open up much, but in his later
years he did, and shared with me experience
of his life during World War II. I was honored to learn about and in awe of what
our WWII veterans
went through- yet seldom discuss, boast, brag, or complain about....
Thank you for the service you provide to honor the memory of men like my dad

I am 87 yrs. old now, and think of the days spent in the war quite often.

I am writing on behalf of my father. He was stationed in Bogalusa,
Mississippi in 1941. He is trying to find
a soldier that was in charge of his company. The man's name was Linton Barnes
from somewhere
around Charleston, SC.
My father is 84 years old and Capt. Barnes should be around
86. He was in France with my father during the Normandy invasion and then
at the end of the war they were in a reorientation center together in Newport
News, VA.
That is the last time my father saw him. My fathers name is William
Hassell Moore (Hassell)
Quite an unusual name. I do know that during the war my father retrieved and
repaired tanks that were disabled.

Like lots of other veterans, my father never spoke of his war experiences. Best
I can tell from the few things
that were in his tin box of memorabilia is he was in 3rd Infantry, 3rd Platoon,

issued March 1, 1944 and signed by 1st Lt. Co. F Gordon D. Rhoades.
My father was wounded in Africa, returned to service; was seriously wounded in
Italy (I think)
and shipped back to California around December 1944. Was awarded the Purple

Comments: I am looking for information on my grandfather or anyone who might
have knew him.
His name is/was PVT. J G LATHAM. he was in the 30th infantry 119th infantry

He died on March 29 1944. and is buried in Epinal American cemetery.
I don't really know that much about him, but he probably

I am trying to locate information about my late father who served in the 3rd
Division, 7th Infantry, Co C.
I know this information from his Award of the Purple Heart.
All of his military records were destroyed in the fire in St. Louis 1973.
I would very much like to hear from anyone who knew him or of
the activities of his unit.
I remember my father saying that he was in Africa, Italy and southern France and
that he guarded prisoners
later in Germany. My father was Walter Morowski.
Thank you for any help.

Comments: Recently I received my Uncles IDPF file (Individual Deceased Personnel File).
He was KIA on 4/13/45 in Germany near Bamberg. Under cause of death is says SFW Lt side.
Someone had told me that GSW means gun shot wound and IDPF's have been know to use that abbreviation,
however I cannot find out what SFW means. Can anyone out there help me out.
I have a letter sent to my grandfather from the Chaplain who said he was guarding German prisoners when the German Airforce flew over dropping anti-personnel bombs and one landed near him. I don't know if that would help.

I am looking for a war buddy on behalf of my grandpa, Jack Indelicato. My
grandpa served in WWII
in the 3rd Division, 15th Infantry, Company E.
He has many fond memories of serving with a man named Henery
Thorn. He lost contact with Thorn after they were discharged together (from a
Hospital in Illinois.) I am looking for Henery Thorn himself, or any family
members.
I am told Thorn was originally from Ft. Wayne Indiana.
If it helps, I know they were both discharged on Jan. 19, 1945.
Thank you,

I am searching for information on my late Father. All I have to go on is his name and the insignia on his helmet,
which matches the diagonal blue and white stripes shown as the 3rd Infantry. I think many of his military records were destroyed in the fire in St. Louis 1973.
Is there a roster of officers (he was a second Lt.) or a list of Purple Heart recipients
