Comments:
Hello, My father (who is now 88 yrs old) had a brother, William Donish who was
killed, as he stated, "the day before the peace treaty was signed."
The only information my Dad can remember currently is:
William entered the Army in March, 1942; was in the Army's third infantry
division in WWII; was killed after the Battle of the Bulge;
and said that the government at one time told the family William was killed in
Germany after stepping on a landmine
and another time stated he was shot dead in France.
I would love to gather any information possible for my Dad; and also my family.
Dad is so happy that I am interested enough to request information. Please help
!

Comments: Does anyone know which TANKER Units were in the ARMY
stationed in Palermo Italy @ August 1944
and then moved to Gaeta? Please excuse the verbiage as I am not familiar with
war terms. Although I am getting much better!
I do not know the difference between the letters AD and ID. Someone told me that
either of these could be where
this person we are searching for had served in the Army.
I have posted before regarding a search for a friend of mine who is looking for
his grandfather Anthony Villad.
And, we just found out he drove a tank.
Also, there was a Cleaners that all the military used (which was near the Port
Palermo) and a woman there was referred
to MAMMA ROSA. He went to this place often with his best friend FRANCIS.

1951 til March 1952.
He told me he volunteered for the "Battle Patrol" which conducted scouting and
patrolling missions.
I think this was some sort of temporary unit.
Does anyone have any information about the activities of the "Battle Patrol" or
has anyone served with my father?
Was the Battle Patrol like the Rangers?
