Comments:
I am trying to learn more about the experiences of David Collinworth, my dad's stepfather.  I know he served with
E Co./15th from Jan 15-16, 1945 to Feb. 1, 1945 when he was wounded.  After some extensive research in the National Archives on the campaign at Colmar, and comparing the events with his personal recollections (which he shared very rarely) I believe he was wounded east of Durrenentzen near the Bois de la Hart while his company was trying to secure the Rhone-Rhine Canal bridge to Baltzenheim.  Anyone who knew him, please contact me by mail, email, or phone.  Any information from those who knew him would be very meaningful to my family as Pepaw has been gone for 8 years this July.
Thanks much. Matthew Phillips

Subject: Interviewing War Veterans from the New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia area

Comments: I am a 21-year-old college student majoring in Military History and I am currently a member of the New Jersey Army National Guard. I am interested in meeting with and interviewing War Veterans from the New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia area. I am willing to travel to any of the states mentioned for the interview. The interview would take about one hour in length. The interview would be videotaped and later transcribed. All that I ask for is one hour of your time and I will finish the rest.

I am doing this project for a number of reasons. It is a school project, a personal project and my greatest interest. All my free time is spent with veterans. I am also active in coordinating veterans to speak at Libraries and Communities Centers in Pennsylvania.

When my project is completed I will send you copies of the interview and a copy will be submitted to the Library of Congress – Veterans History Project. If you are interested in participating please contact me as soon as possible.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,

Mr. Brandon C. Traister

Subject: Looking for Information

Comments:
Recently I received my Uncles IDPF file (Individual Deceased Personnel File).
He was KIA on 4/13/45 in Germany near Bamberg. Under cause of death is says SFW Lt side.
Someone had told me that GSW means gun shot wound and IDPF's have been know to use that abbreviation,
however I cannot find out what SFW means. Can anyone out there help me out.

I have a letter sent to my grandfather from the Chaplain who said he was guarding German prisoners when the German Air force flew over dropping anti-personnel bombs and one landed near him. I don't know if that would help.

I am in search of information on the late Raymond R. Batchelor. He was in Company H, 15th Infantry in World War Two.
He was a Heavy Mortar Crewman #1607. He was awarded 4 Bronze Stars and the French Croix de Guerre. I have no idea why.

I am his great-grandson and I requested his records and I was told that they burned in a fire.

All I got was his discharge papers. He never talked about his wartime service. I would like to get as much
information possible on him and the people that served with him. Thank you very much for your help.

My father, John M. Wolfskill, served in the 10th Engineer Combat Battalion during WWII -- Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Sicily, Italy (wounded 10 Feb 1944), southern France, Rhineland, and central Europe.

He died 11 May 1965; I was 13 then, and my brother and sisters were younger.  They now have kids of their own, and I'm trying to find more information about his experiences so I may share that information with his descendants.  I have his discharge papers, as well as some correspondence from his time overseas (including the telegram informing his mother & sister that he had been "seriously wounded").  I am also in the process of trying to get any information I can from St. Louis, and regret that I didn't start this well before Dec 1973.
I will appreciate clues.
Thanks,
David

Comments: I am trying to reach veteran's who were in the 30th Infantry Regiment when it passed through the Bavarian town of Bad Kissingen during the 6 - 8 April 1945 period. As I understand the history, in specific, it was the 2nd and 3rd battalion that swept into the small city and accepted the surrender without a shot being fired. I wonder if the Norman Mohar memoir recalls these events? Unfortunately, the on line version ends as the division enters Germany. Are you in contact with him so I may ask and are you in contact with any other veterans from that period who could help with first hand accounts or photos?
