find information on how I can obtain a copy of Donald Taggart's book "the
history of the 3rd infantry division" and came across this website on link
from another site, found it very interesting. My dad is listed in this book,
he served in WWII in 10th engineer combat battalion. He passed away on Jan.16,

My son David, Who is stationed in Germany is trying to located the battlefield
area where my Dad, Lum David Fambro was wounded.
My Dad's Honorable Discharge only stated that he was wounded on the 11 Feb.
1945 during the Rhineland Campaign. They have him listed in the 1939 SCU for
his organization. He arrived in France 23 Dec 1944. He returned to the USA on
26 Mar 1945. He stayed in the Baxter General Hospital, Spokane, Washington
until he was discharged from Service on 3 Nov. 1945. ARMY SN 34 939 051. He
took his basic training at Camp Wheeller, near Macon, Ga. from 11 July 1944
thru 9 Dec 1944. He attended the Adjutant General School Fort Oglethorpe
School. My Dad died July 1966. We have very little information on his battles.
The best that I can recall was that he was in the 3rd Army, 3ID, and was
assigned to a tank outfit as a scout and sniper. His discharge states that he
received the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Medal, Purple
Heart Medal, American Theater Ribbon, World War 2 Victory Medal, and the Good
Conduct Metal. We thank you for any help that you can give. My son is
stationed near Bitburg, Germany. He thinks that his Granddad fought near his
house.

Comments: My father, 1st Sgt. Oren Adolph Hudgens, was killed on the USS
Lansdale-DD426 on the night of April 20, 1944--8 months before I was born. My
mother never remarried and refused to speak about him. I was taken from her
due to being abused and grew up in foster homes--fantasizing that my dad was
not actually dead and would appear and rescue me someday. Childish thoughts
long gone, but I still yearn to know something--ANYTHING--about him as a human
being. Is there anyone out there who served with him and can tell me any
snippet of a memory you have of him? God Bless and thank you.

In 1932 my late uncle Henry Ekvall, along with three
companions, was murdered in far away China. 65 years later I determined to get
to the bottom of the episode, and I did...thanks to my career training as an
investigative reporter, journalist, editor and publisher.
The late career Army officer Robert Soule has a major role
in solving the mystery. He was a lowly lieutenant and assistant military
attached in Peking at the time.

Subject: 2BN 39th ARTY Schweinfurt Germany
Comments:
This is a request for any info on reunions of the 2nd BN 39th Arty or any
folks that served I HHB from '66 to '69
I was in the HHB from April 0f 1966 to Jan of 1969. When I arrived there was a
young weeping willow tree that I like to think was a lot like us strong good
looking and with a long future ahead of us..
When I was in Bosnia with the 109th MPAD in 1999 - 2000 I took a leave in
April and drove to Ledward Barracks. The tree is much older now and it looks
a little worse for wear and I don't know how much longer it will be
around....The post is almost unrecognizable.
The only building that has not changed a bit is the old post chapel which has
been neglected much like the old willow. Millions of dollars have been spent
for total remodeling of the old buildings.
The old Gary Owen 7th Cav tank is gone and a piddly little civil war style
cannon sleeps there now. All signs of the 3rd herd occupancy have been
erased. The old bombed out billets have MWR offices in the basement and
tennis courts on the top. It all looks 1st cabin.
The Med Det is one of the last buildings to be renovated and was breached with
scaffolds when I was there. I actually talked to the club mgr; when I was
there in the 60's he was the cook at the "Gladiator PIT".
Hell, who says you can't go back! I DID! Many fond memories of the unit that
raised me. I did most of my growing up in the unit and 1SG Roger Lowe was the
father I never had. Even today, when I meet another Marneman, I salute them
with a hearty "Rock of the Marne"
Like and old tree, I will retire next March from the active reserve component
having served as much time on active reserve lately as I did on active duty.
Of all my service, I am most proud to have been a Marneman. MSG Emil T. Mc

Subject: 18th Infantry/582nd Orchestra Photographer
Comments:
At the weekend, I purchased a set of one man's WWII
photographs of American infantry. they showed the photographer as being from
the 18th Infantry. He passed Neustadt, Germany August 1945, and also the 582nd
Orchestra at Maxdorf in Germany, July 1945.
He also features the Rainbow Corner Hotel in Paris, April 1945. the reverse of
the photos contain some locations, dates, and names. His friend was Ken Arnott.
Do any of you know of any websites that may help me find out more about these
people, as they may like to see these pictures once again.
Hope you can help, Many Thanks.

1. I would like to learn about the accomplishments and history of Jack Mason
(army 3rd infantry officer WW1) who lived in Chicago after WW1 for a book I am
going to write. I think he was an aide under General Howze but I don't know
much more about what he did after the war except that he settled for awhile in
Chicago.
2. Also, I would like the name of any descendents if you have that, and to
contact them to ask permission to use his letters as a resource for the book.
