Subject: Sgt. James P. Connor Medal of Honor

Comments: Looking for anyone who served with James P. Connor while he served in 3rd Division in World War 2. Especially interested in any info about his deed of valor at Cape Cavalaire or anything about Red Beach landing/fighting 15 August 1944. Trying to write as detailed an eyewitness account as possible about what happened there that day and just what this man did. Composing a detailed work so his story can be told "beyond the words of the citation" for the first time. Welcome any input at all. I am region 2 Vice President of the Family and Friends of the Congressional Medal of Honor and we are doing all we can to tell and retell the tales of our nation's greatest heroes.

Webmaster's Note: A detailed description of Sgt James P. Connor MOH exploits, can be found at http://www.medalofhonor.com/3rdDivision.htm

Comments: Jozef Wroblewski was my grandfather. He was born 16/01/1913 and died 25/03/1965. He served in the Polish Army and fought in WW2. He fought at Monte Casino, and I believe he was awarded medals. He lived in Krakow just outside of Warsaw before the war and settled at Chisekdon, Wiltshire, England when rescued. He had a wife, son (Jan) and daughter in Poland who moved to Szrezin, Poland. My grandfather met my grandmother and had four children, living in Swindon, Wiltshire, England. He was unable to return to Poland but kept in contact with his son. Jan was unable to get to England before my grandfather died under suspicious circumstances. The little I know makes me want to find out exactly what he was like and what my extended family is like. Please if anyone can help with any info please email me

What citations and other items would be worn on his uniform in 1967

Comments: Hello,  I wonder if you could assist me with a surprise for my father. He
served as a medic with the 1st of the 7th infantry 3ID in Germany from 1966-1967. I'm trying to put together a shadow box of all his ribbons, etc. I would like to put the 3ID unit citations etc, that he wore in Germany in the box.

Would you be able to guide me on what citations and other items would be worn on his uniform in 1967 and how they would have been worn to military regulations? I would
like to get this as accurate as possible. Do you know of a website that would help me out in purchasing these items? I am unable to receive pictures through my current email and can only receive text messages.
I truly appreciate any help you can give.
I look forward to hearing from you.

My Father SSgt Patrick W. Fox passed on when I was age 4 (1973). I have been desperately trying to find out information about his service to his country in WWII. I submitted a request to the NARA for copies of his military records and was told that they were destroyed in a fire and was directed to the VA for assistance. I received a copy of his Enlisted Service Record.

He enlisted in the Army in 1942 in Los Angeles, CA. He attended radio operator’s school in Madison Wisconsin. He was in Naples Foggia Campaign. Was a radio operator/mech. He had an aircrew member badge (wings). He was discharged in Dec 1945 from March AFB, Riverside Ca. On his honorable discharge papers it reads discharged from 556th AAF BU. If there is anyone who served with my father or new of him please contact me. I would be most grateful.

Comments: WILLIAM MCDONALD - 3rd Engineer Battalion, Munich Germany in 1965. I am looking for others who may have known him or know something about his death. He was 17 years old when he was stabbed in the early morning hours of July 4th 1965. He spent the next three months in a coma in Valley Forge Hospital in Pa. where he reached the ripe old age of 18, dying Oct. 29th 1965.

I am looking for any information as we were given very little info - it might have caused "an international incident" as we were informed . I have his medical and Army info. Any ideas where to go with this? I really believe enough time has passed that his family could be told the facts now! Any info that I now have was sent to me from the Provost Marshall in Germany . Much Thanks, Bill's sister Sam

Comments: My dad was with the 278 National Guard (Regimental Combat Team) from 1951-1952. He was sent to Iceland (2nd battalion) for Garrison duty. He received no medals when discharged. Does anyone know if his unit received anything? He has checked with Kansas and reportedly they had a fire in that section of records and were unable to locate his SRB. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Subject: Looking for information on Grandfathers

Comments:
My husband and I are searching for any information regarding our grandfathers' service in World War II. His grandfather, Delmer R. Stollar, was killed at the Battle of the Bulge on December 24, 1944. That is about all the information we have...he received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star, posthumously, we assume. I don't have his unit information.

My grandfather, Karl Henry Aichele, served in the Pacific. I know he was stationed in China, India and possibly the Philippines. My great uncle thinks he was part of the unit that guarded the Enola Gay. I can't find any information on his unit, etc. All of his papers were destroyed in a fire and my grandmother has trouble with her memory.

William A. Woods

Comments: Dear Sir, For 10 years I have been trying to find info on anyone who may have served with a private by the name of William A. Woods from Alabama( everyone called him Alton). I have been able to determine thru what I could learn from my uncle that he was with the 3rd infantry division/15th infantry regiment. He saw action at both Anzio and Northern Africa and was wounded and captured during an enemy raid on an ammo depot in Northern Africa. I was wondering if there were any existing rosters that could tell me what company he was in?

I would also be interested in hearing from any surviving vets from his unit who may have served with him. I have tried the veteran records and they have nothing. I have also searched the internet extensively. Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You, Jim

Comments: I knew my father was in the Army but he would never talk about it and all of his medals were stolen when I was very small. While going thru papers after my mother passed away, we found his discharge papers and it said that he had received 5 Bronze Stars and 1 Silver Star. He is 81 right now and in very bad health. He has mentioned Omaha Beach, helping with the bridge over the Rhine, he was also in 5 different countries (discharge papers). It also mentions being both a medic and a cook! He did mention that he helped to carry the wounded off the field. What information on his discharge papers will help me? I really would like to hear what happened and the names of the towns that he was at. Thank You. Sue Layton

Subject: Website where listing of all Soldier's who served in WWII

Comments:  My father fought in the 3rd ID in WWII. He is now deceased and his records are back in his hometown many miles away from me (but available). Is there any site on the internet that gives a listing of the soldier's names who fought in WWII, along with their rank and subdivisions?

I have had several veterans ask me for this info and the only thing I can tell them off the top of my head is that he was there from the beginning in North Africa and stayed 6 months after the war ended (in either Austria or Germany).

He was a foot soldier, a sergeant, a sharp shooter and an all round great human being. He fought at Anzio, the Colmar pocket, marched through German, Italy, was in France, Austria, etc. etc. Can you give me any help or direction?
Lisa Willett.... daughter of Wiley (Wylie) Hargrove of Eastman, GA

Comments: My name is Brandon Nuttall. My father was a P-47 pilot with the 362nd Fighter Group, 379th Fighter Squadron from October 1944 to March 1945. On March 18, 1945, on a close support mission over Bad Kreuznach, Germany, his second mission of the day, he was shot down and captured. He convinced his captors (who arms were down to one loaded sidearm) to surrender to him. They did and he turned them over to the Allied units who had just occupied the town. He was in an Evac hospital by March 22, 1945. My father passed away in 1982.

I am looking for information on the infantry, armor, or engineering unit(s) that would have been in Bad Kreuznach between March 18 and March 22, 1945. I have located information that elements of the 4th Armor Division and the 1303rd Engineering Battalion of Patton's 3rd Army occupied the town between March 16-18, 1945. I would like to contact them and find out a little about their unit history at that time. Maybe there is a survivor who remembers the incident with my father?

Thanks for your help.
