eyewitness account as possible about what happened there that day and
just what this man did. Composing a detailed work so his story can be
told "beyond the words of the citation" for the first time. Welcome any
input at all. I am region 2 Vice President of the Family and Friends of
the Congressional Medal of Honor and we are doing all we can to tell and

What citations and other items would be worn on his uniform in 1967
Comments: Hello, I wonder if you could assist me with a surprise
for my father. He
served as a medic with the 1st of the 7th infantry 3ID in Germany from
1966-1967. I'm trying to put together a shadow box of all his ribbons,
etc. I would like to put the 3ID unit citations etc, that he wore in
Germany in the box.
Would you be able to guide me on what citations and other items
would be worn on his uniform in 1967 and how they would have been
worn to military regulations? I would
like to get this as accurate as possible. Do you know of a website
that would help me out in purchasing these items? I am unable to
receive pictures through my current email and can only receive text

sidearm) to surrender to him. They did and he turned them over to the
Allied units who had just occupied the town. He was in an Evac hospital
by March 22, 1945. My father passed away in 1982.
I am looking for information on the infantry, armor, or engineering
unit(s) that would have been in Bad Kreuznach between March 18 and March
22, 1945. I have located information that elements of the 4th Armor
Division and the 1303rd Engineering Battalion of Patton's 3rd Army
occupied the town between March 16-18, 1945. I would like to contact
them and find out a little about their unit history at that time. Maybe
there is a survivor who remembers the incident with my father?
Thanks for your help.

Subject: Herminio Olmeda-Hernandez, 65th Infantry
COMMENTS: Hello: My name is Odette Olmeda. My
father Herminio Olmeda-Hernandez, and a Korean War Veteran, passed away
on December 25th, 2004. We were in the process of getting is memories
together, but a sudden and very short hospital stay cut it short. Three
years ago I had asked him to record his memories of Korea and his
service as a an infantryman with the Puerto Rico 65th Infantry Division.
He assured me that he had started recording his memories, but we have
not been able to find them.
It was my intent to honor my father (while he
was still alive) by writing about his life, his humble beginnings as
a sugarcane cropper in Puerto Rico in the late 1940s and early1950s,
and how after serving in Korea he returned to the Island and became
a teacher and raised the family of which I am very proud of being a
member. Right now I am going through a very hard time with the loss
of my father. Now, it is more important for me to make sure his life
is honored. To that effect, I would like to get in touch with anyone
who knew him and may have served with him to share any memories they
may have about my father. You may contact me at (860)568-3847 (ET)
Thank you. Odette Olmeda

Comments: Dear Webmaster
I am trying to find out more about an incident that took place on 1st
November 1943, when 3 battalion, 7 Infantry left Terracorpo in S. Italy
According to one version, they sent ahead a scouting patrol, which
included an Italian officer, by the name of Boaracchini, dressed up to
look like a friar.
The "friar" got involved in some sort of skirmish with a German
rearguard soldier, and, to cut a long story short, the Germans torched
the village before leaving it - apparently believing the man to be a
The one problem with this version is that the Italian surname
Boaracchini does not exist - there may have been a typo somewhere, or it
may be an assumed name. Was it possible for the US 7th regiment to have
enlisted support of Italian army officers to do their scouting for them?
Would there be any written record of these people's names?
Any help or comment greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
