Subject: Walter P. Solberg - Tec 5 WWII

Comments: I am trying to find any information on my father. 3rd Infantry, 756th Battalion - WWII. He was awarded the Bronze Star and all of his records perished in the fire that took many of our servicemen's records (1973 I think). I found his name with the Rank of Tec 4, Italy, 2/16/1944 and a ? mark as to his Company (this was the only name that did not identify a Company on this list), but his footstone says Tec 5. My aunt said that he was in the tank battalion and was a hero. Anyway, I would appreciate any information you or anyone out there may have. My father was in 5 campaigns and I was told that he was also under Audie Murphy's command at some point in time. Thank you.

Webmaster's Note: Go to this website for further information http://www.756tank.com/index.html

Subject: Looking for Father

Comments: I am searching for my father.  Based on some Korean Social Service adoption paperwork he held the rank of Private in the U.S. Army.  The documents indicate he was in a common law marriage for approx. 1 yr with my mother SOON HEE KIM and was denied permission to bring his pregnant wife back to the United States.  It state he was 20 years old at the time. He was stationed (in and/or around Seoul) in Korean 1965-1966? I was born 5 May 1966 or June 5 1966. Recently, personal medical problems have arisen where a family history would be quite useful regarding treatment options. I also realize he is not getting any younger if he is even still alive.
If you know of any information regarding my father please contact me at  SKoreaChld@aol.com .
Thank you for your time. ki soo

Subject: Looking for any information on Edward Rider

Comments: Trying to find any information on T Sgt. Edward Rider of Company L, 15th Infantry Reg. 3rd ID, 1941-1945. He fought at N. Africa, Sicily, Italy, France, and Germany. Any old letters from fellow soldiers that might have mentioned what was happening there, would be helpful. He won the Silver Star for Valor at Cisterna. All his officers were killed and he lead the attack against the Germans, and drove them back with hand grenades. He was chosen to accept the unit's award "Distinguished Unit Emblem, because he was the only surviving member of his Unit that left Ft. Lewis in 1942. Sadly he was killed in a auto accident after he came home from the war in 1946.Any info would help, or where I can go to get records of the events in his life. I also am a veteran 1987-1998. Subject: Looking for info on my grandfather John Davoren!

Comments: I' m looking for anybody who served or knew my grandfather Johnathon Davoren. He was an Irish immigrant who lived in Brooklyn NY before and after he served. According to my uncle he served in the 3rd Division during WWII. He passed away in the mid 60s when my mother was only 13, so we know very little about him. I don't know what he did in the army but I know he was awarded a Bronze Star. Though not knowing much about him he has been an influence on myself and my family. Two of his children followed in his footsteps (Tho' they both joined the Air Force). And my cousin and I have also joined the military (Army Reserve for her, USAF for me). So please if you knew him or have any photos of him, please e-mail me, my family would be so grateful.

Subject: Pontelatone

Comments: Via Google I came up with the reference to Pontelatone in your comment on Request 2811 of October 2004.

My Mother originates from this town in Italy. Just as a shot in the dark I was searching in the hope of finding some email addresses for American GI's (or family members of them) that may have been in Pontelatone during the war.
My hope is to try to track down some photographs that may have been taken by any or the servicemen showing the town as it was. Nobody in the village had a camera then so none exist.
Can you help or point me in the right direction

Regards
Mike Hancy

Comments: I have contacted you in the past regarding one of my relatives. I have another request and I am uncertain if you can help me or not. My office was approached by a gentleman who came into possession of very personal items belonging to a WWII soldier killed in action in France August 15 1944. This war hero is buried in France too as I understand it. He was with the 15th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Div. The information below is what was given the requestor by the American Battle Monuments Association. For right now I would prefer you not publish my name and the information on the webpage. I am trying to convince the man to give the items to the family when I locate them but he is not exactly willing to do that so I am a little concerned about making a public request for information just yet. Any direction you can offer me would be appreciated.

Subject: Co. B 335th Eng Regt WW II

Comments: I am seeking information about the movements of the 335th Eng Regt during the years 1942-1945. My father, Selvin Klaksvik, was a member of Co. B of this. I would appreciate hearing from anyone having information or who may have served with him. At various times he was located in Italy, North Africa, and also on the island of Corsica. He was a dairy farmer from Minnesota and did his Basic Training in Camp Walters, Texas, I believe. Thank you.
