I have a client, James Robert Harvey, DOB: 6/30/34, RA13484425 who
served with the 519th AAA Battalion during the Korean War. I am
working on his VA Claim. As you probably know, Army and Air Force
records from WW2 and the Korean War were burned in the fire at St.

I am looking for anyone or any documents which would provide
information on his Purple Heart. His DD-214 just gives the Purple

Subject: My Grandfather
Herman Joseph Buckner's
service
Comments: I'm at my last line of hope on trying to find out what my
grandfather did in World War Two. I was going through some of his
old things and I came across a 3rd ID arm patch. On his discharge
papers he fought everywhere that the 3rd ID fought. One thing
confuses me, his papers say that he served with the 214th AAA Gun
Battalion Battery "D". I don't know if this was an attached unit or
what. I honestly can't find anything on this battalion. The only
thing I found was people posting that they had family that served in
the same thing, that's all. His name was Herman Joseph Buckner. I
believe he was a private or private first class. I have tried
looking around my house, which used to be his, for anything and I
find nothing. I'm hoping that you might be able to tell me what I am
looking for or at least send me in the right direction. He passed
before I ever showed interest in WWII and no one close to him ever
really talked about it, so information is in a small dose from my
family. I thank you for taking the time to read this and possible
help. |
