Subject: Lt. Paul E. Coker - HQ CO 2BN 7TH INF REG (KOREA 1953)

Comments: I have submitted this request once before 2 years ago, but had little information at that time. Just checking to see if anyone knew my grandfather, LT Paul E. Coker. He went to Korea in Mid-June 1953 as a 2nd lieutenant and was a P & A Platoon Leader in the HQ Company, 2nd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment and later the Assistant S-1 when he made 1st lieutenant in the same company. I looks like he was in Korea from June - Oct of 1953. Any help on battles, or duties the HQ CO might have done in that time would be appreciated, or even better, if someone remembers serving with him. Thanks in advance!

Comments: I am looking for the Dempsey Williams who was my squad leader at Ft. Benning. The years were 1986 to 1988. Our unit was the Air Defense platoon (16S Stinger Missle Crew Membere) of HHC 197th Infantry Brigade. We were located on Kelly Hill. He was an E-5 and became a drill sergeant. I am not sure if he is still in the military, probably not. I am also not sure how long he stayed in the military. I believe he was from either North or South Carolina.

Comments: My Great Uncles, Last name Milvae, fought in WW2. They both ended up POWs and both were decorated and survived the war. My Grandfather, John Lemik, was in (I believe due to descriptions of unit insignia from my dad) 601st Tank Destroyers. If anyone knew of these young men I would love to hear from you. My grandfather (Milvae) is very old and I am sure he would love to hear stories about his brothers while my father is young (57) he would love to hear about his father, as his mother just passed away and any link to his father is lost.

Comments: Does anyone know if the 214th AAA Gun Battalion was an attached unit to the 3rd Infantry Division? I spoke with a war historian and he believes that it was with the info i provided him. I have posted on here in the past and my grandfather served with the AAA unit but has nothing but 3rd ID patches and this unit went everywhere the 3rd ID went. His discharge papers say nothing about being reassigned to the infantry unit, just the AAA unit. Any help is more than what I have.

Subject: Bamberg Germany 1959

Comments: I am looking for anyone who remembers my uncle PVT. Donnie Ray Taylor. He was with Company B 15th infantry 3rd division stationed in Bamberg Germany in 1959. On Nov. 2nd 1959 he went missing and was reported AWOL for 6 weeks. His body was found on Dec 5, 1959 floating in the Regnitz River. I would be interested in any information about his short stay in Bamberg, he arrived in Sept '59. I am also interested in the talk of his being missing and the speculations surrounding his death. He had a deep gash to the head. Official cause of death was drowning. He joined the army in Feb of '59 and completed his basic training at Fort Benning. He was born and raised in KY.
Thanks,
Pam Taylor

Subject: Training Poster for the "Rock of the Marne"

Comments: My husband served in the 3d ID in the late 1980s as a tanker in the 64th Armor Regiment. We both recall seeing a training poster for the "Rock of the Marne" that showed a Soldier on the battlefield with the slogan, "Let no man's soul cry out --- had I only the training."

Though my husband is now a senior noncommissioned officer in the Infantry, he has fond memories of his time as a tanker. After serving two 1 year tours in Iraq, he is now a trainer at the National Training Center at Fort Irwin, CA, and the words from that vintage poster resonate with him now more than ever.

Our 15 year wedding anniversary is coming up and I would love to give him a copy of that print. I found your website during my searches and hope that you might be able to help me.

Sincerely,
Amy C. Gallagher

Subject: Where is Chris?

Comments: I am looking for an old army buddy of my husbands. I've done a fair amount of digging via the internet with only a hint that I may have found the right person . I am searching for Chris Sides he would have been stationed with my husband Dan Schmidt in Germany . My husband was an 88m and was in for about a year before getting discharged. I think the fellow soldier he is looking to get in contact with may be a Sgt. with the 528th qm from Ft. Lewis, WA and may have been deployed to Iraq. My husband Dan is 24 yrs. old now would've been 18/19 yrs. old when he knew Chris. If anyone out there knows of this person ,please send me an e-mail. I think it would give my husband some past closure with an old buddy. Or if anyone can send me info on how to find an old army buddy that would be great also. Hope to hear from someone soon.

Before George left he was looking for me but didn't find me. because at this time i wasn't in Bamberg I had to visit my father because he came back from POW camp. i only know that he was assigned to a tank unit in Bamberg but i don't know his ssn nor his birthday. When I came back, I also looked for him and I tried to get information about his unit in Warner Barracks Bamberg. But at this time the information were Confidential. But today I’m sure it is possible to locate in Warner barracks the unit history and it's members. Now I’m old and I wish to see him again in my life. I thank you very much for your help

Subject: "Rock of The Marne"/3rd ID

Comments: To Whom it may Concern: I am currently working on a Master's Thesis at a university in TN. I have chosen as my focus to follow the 3rd ID, from its conception to the Armistice, in WWI. What I am in need of are personal accounts, articles, the history of the division, etc: any and all primary sources you might have at your disposal would be greatly appreciated. My thesis will more resemble a "Band of Brothers" format rather than an argumentative one. Would Ft. Stewart also be a place to locate records, etc? I have contacted the National Archives and am awaiting their response. I plan to travel to the D.C. this summer and see what they have there. I am grateful for any help you can provide.
Thank you,
Steve Coode
