I know he served in Italy, but that's all I know. If anyone knew him and could email what they know that would be great. Thanks!

Subject: 26th Infantry Scout Dog Platoon

Comments: My name is Ronald A. McKeown. In 1952 I was a dog handler in the 26th Infantry Scout Dog Platoon in Korea US56 083 361. In 1952 I was a dog handler in Korea holding the rank of Corporal. I went on 29 combat patrols, with my scout dog Champ in front of our lines, in Korea in 1952. In the
summer of 1952 an Army professional photographer took pictures of me and my scout dog Champ simulating action on Combat Patrols in Korea.

The 26th Infantry Scout Dog Platoon group I was with consisted of two squads that trained at Fort Riley/Camp Funston for 8 months from June 1951 to February 1952; then we took our trained Scout Dogs with us to Korea. The two squads were split in their geographical coverage of our front lines. I don't know if the other squad was ever assigned to the 65 Regt.

As a point of interest: A veteran of the 26th Infantry Scout Dog Platoon; Robert Fickbohm is in the process of writing a book on the 26th ISDP. He just recently started work on the book so it will be awhile. I am supplying him with the many Scout Dog action pictures that were taken of "Champ" and me in the summer of 1952 at the front in Korea. On the back of one of those pictures is printed: 9 July 52 Officers of the 7th Inf. Div. watch demonstration of scout dogs at the 26th scout dog platoon, 7th Inf. Div. Near Saemal, Korea. US Army Photo by pfc E. J. Steinberg 7th Signal Co. Photo Section

Can you assist me in finding possible references to the 26th ISDP in the many data bases of Army History Information?
Sincerely,

Ron McKeown

Subject: David Carneal

Comments: I am looking for David Carneal who would be in his late 60's or 70's. He was originally from Washington, D.C., and his mother's name was Anita. He moved to Ft. Washington, Md. in the 80's and I lost contact with him at that time. His mother was a grandmother to me. I spent many vacations with her and Tiny, her husband. I have been dreaming a lot of David lately and would like to know that he is okay. I believe he was either in the army or the navy. Not quite sure. I also think he served in Vietnam. Any information you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Subject: PFC Kelsey Powers from Andover, NJ K.I.A. in Battle of Cassino

Comments: I am writing to see if there is anyone who may have served or known my Uncle "Kelsey Powers". He was a PFC in the U.S. Army During World War II and he was attached to a Chemical Warfare Unit during the "Battle Of Cassino". He had lost his life during that battle, and my grandparents were given his "Purple Heart" for his Heroism in that Bloody and gruesome war in Italy. I don't have much information or details on what really happened on that fateful day he was killed because at the time no one really wanted to talk about it or much less know about it because of there overwhelming grief. He was killed on Jan.21,1944. He was 26 years old. If anyone knew of him ,"Please" let me know by phone or email. He was my uncle and I am so proud to know that he served so proudly and gave his life in doing so. Sincerely, Wayne Powers

Subject: 102nd Field Artillery Battalion, World War II, US Army

Comments: I am looking for information about my fathers, R.C. Nelson Jr. Army unit. His DD214 says he was assigned to the 102nd FA Bn and his battles and campaigns were: Co ( or G0) 33 WD 45 Rhineland Central Europe. He was awarded the American theater ribbon, EAMET Ribbon, good conduct medal and a victory ribbon. My grandmother told my mother after they were married that he received a purple heart but we've never seen it. He died of a heart attack in 1982 so I don't know much else. He told my mom he was at Normandy and in the Battle of the Bulge.
