Subject: 15th Regiment Colmar Kayersberg Hill 351
Comments: I am looking for any WWII veterans who fought near Hill
351 (also known as Bloody Hill) between Colmar and Kayersberg France
in mid to late December 1944. My grandfather fought on the German
side and died in the battle. My research has indicated that possibly
the 15th regiment and/or the third signal company may have seen him.
I've come across a KIA picture that looks remarkably like him, so
maybe someone can shed some light on his last days. Any information
on the battle would be helpful. |

Comments: My father served with the 3rd Division, he landed in
Africa and was shipped home from France just before VE day. He was
an active member of Outpost 22. Just recently I found out that he
had been awarded the Audie Murphy award for service to the Division.
Apparently my stepmother got the information but never forwarded it
to me. I am Norms oldest son and have collected all of his medals
and awards and would like to include this information in our family
history. I would also like to see if I can get a copy of the
citation. I was also wondering if you could help me get
documentation on the medals he was awarded, especially his three
Purple Hearts and two Bronze Stars. Apparently my mother-in-law has
lost this information. |

Subject: uncle's service in Korea
Comments: I am building a memorial case with burial flag and medals
etc to honor my uncle who served in Korea. I have spent well over 9
months researching and looking everywhere and writing for his medals
etc. The day I received 3 of his medals coincidentally, there was a
front page story in our newspaper about The Forgotten War. There
were stories about 3 men who served and horrible battles they were
in. As a child, when I had access to my uncle's, of course such
things were of no importance to me. Now they are gone. I would like
to know where he was in Korea, any major battles he may have been
in, any info to help me get a nice historic record of his service.
He was in the 5th Army- it says his most significant duty assignment
was Svc Btry 537th FA Bn. He was a marksman and professional
artillery. I am searching for all awards, medals, badges, etc and
would love to hear from anyone with knowledge of his unit. Contact
via email please. Thank you! |

Subject: Looking for "then" 1LT Trinkle, Scout Plt Ldr, 3-64 AR
Comments: Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, as mentioned on my request
prior I was with PzBtl 354 at Hammelburg during the late 70-ties. We
had a very strong partnership with 3-64 AR at Conn Barracks,
Schweinfurt. I was then a SSGT with the scout platoon PzBtl 354. We
trained frequently with our counterparts from the scout platoon, CSC
3-64 AR. 1LT Trinkle was the SCT PLT Ldr then.
In 1991 I had met LTC Trinkle for the last time, he was then S-3 of
3-64 AR, as far as I remember, when he attend the shooting
competition conducted by PzBtl 354 in OCT 1991. I was invited too,
as I was transferred prior to me officer's training course. It was
the last time that PzBtl 354 was able to arrange the competition due
to the fact that in SEP 1992 it was disbanded. It would be a
pleasure if I could find LTC Trinkle via your side.
I appreciate your endeavors.

Subject: Looking for SFC Hill, 2-30 IN
Comments: Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, In 1977 I was a SSGT with scout
platoon of PzBtl 354 at Hammelburg. My PzBtl 354 had a very closed
partnership with 3-64 AR BN. For this reason my BN CDR, was asked by
the BN CDR of 3-64 AR if he could send soldiers to train for the EIB
with his soldiers. Roughly 12 soldiers of my BN attended the
training for the EIB at the SCHWEINFURT training area in June 1977.
The training was conducted by 2-30 IN for personnel of 1st BDE 3rd
ID. At this occasion I got in contact with one of our instructors,
SFC Hill. In late 1977 he was transferred from 2-30 IN to be an
instructor at the 3rd ID NCO Academy at KITZINGEN.We made good
friends and had frequent get-togethers, being at his home or mine.
In Summer 1980 he returned to the States and I had been unable to
find him yet. It would be very helpful if you would be able in
supporting me to find SFC Hill. I appreciate your endeavors!

Comments: I am looking for anyone who might have served with PFC
Verlon M Horton. He was in company L of the 417th infantry regiment
of the 76th division. I have received the IDPF, but there are no
details at all as to what happened when he died. He was killed on
February 14, 1945. Anyone with any information, please e-mail me. |

Subject: ADM Platoon
Comments: I was stationed in Kitzingen, Germany in 1973-74 at Larson
Barracks. I was in the Atomic Demolitions Munitions Platoon of HQ
Company, 10th Engineer Battallion, 3rd ID. I can't find any
information or even an acknowledgement of the existence of the 10th
Engineer Battallion in the 3rd ID at that time or any other time. Is
there any information available for my query? I am particularly
interested in the ADM patch we wore on our fatigue shirt pocket.
THX for any help you may be able to offer, STA |

Comments: I'm looking for information on CSM (I believe) Emanuel J.
Silva. He was an SFC when he taught me JROTC at Valley Forge
Military Academy in the lat'50s. I lost track of him when I
graduated. At reunion recently, I spoke with Col (I believe) Howard
D. Turner, USA Ret. who served with CSM Silva in Viet Nam. CSM Silva
was instrumental in my maturation process. In short,he kicked my
fanny hard and got me on the right track in the values department. |
