The 2012 93rd Society of the 3ID Reunion
will be held in Savannah, GA
at the Hilton Savannah Desoto Hotel
Dates for the Reunion are September 6-9, 2012

The Society of the 3rd Infantry Division and attached units in wars and in peacetime will hold their 93rd annual reunion September 6th - September 9th, 2012.

The reunion will be held at the Hilton Savannah DeSoto Hotel,
15 East Liberty St., Savannah, GA. Phone number is 1-912-232-9000.
Room rates are $114 per night plus tax.

Parking per day – self parking $10 – valet parking $17.
Access from airport – taxi $29 + $5 for second person.

April 28-29, 2012: The spring meeting of Outpost #12 will be held on April, 28 - 29, 2012, at the Country Inn & Suites in Albert Lea, Minnesota. The February 2012 issue of the Watch will contain all the stipulations with which you must comply in order for you and your guest (2 people total) to have your dinners paid for by the Outpost.

May 19, 2012: OP5 will have their first meeting of 2012 on Saturday May 19th at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Valley Forge , PA.  It is next to the big battlefield of the revolution. Across the street is the Persia Mall, the largest on the East Coast. Lunch is at 12:00 to 1:30 P.M., Meeting to follow. May 23-June 2, 2012: 68th Anniversary Battlefield Tour of Italy: The eleven-day tour will include participation in the Memorial Day Ceremony at Sicily-Rome American Cemetery in Nettuno, Italy; visits to the landing beaches at Salerno, Paestum, Anzio, Nettuno, and to the beautiful City of Sorrento, the Amalfi Coast, the Isle of Capri,Monte Cassino, Rome, the American Embassy, Holy See, and many more places of interest. May 27, 2012: Outpost #7’s 2012 Memorial Day wreath-laying ceremony is scheduled at 10:15 AM. Parties interested in participating must report 30 minutes early. Check with Outpost President Dave Adams 7thcavghost@gmail.com regarding where to meet and the required attire/dress code at the ceremony
May 27, 2012: Outpost #13 will conduct its Memorial Day Ceremony at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI at 1:00 PM, when Outpost #13 will lay a wreath.
May 27, 2012: Memorial Day ceremony at Aisne-Marne Cemetery, Belleau, France
June 23, 2012: The annual Audie Murphy Day celebration in Farmersville, Texas will honor and recognize area Veterans while celebrating and remembering Audie Murphy, our “hometown
hero.” This is the thirteenth year Farmersville has presented this Main Street Program event. While plans have just begun, the popular events already includes a flyover, parade, special program,

July 27, 2012: 59th anniversary of Korean Armistice Day in Washington DC

August 14-28, 2012: 68th anniversary of  Operation Dragoon ceremonies from St Tropez to Montelimar in Southern France
August 22-25, 2012: The Reunion of the Fraternity of Honor, “The Chosin Few,” will be held at the Crown Plaza Riverwalk Hotel in downtown San Antonio, Texas. The hotel is located on the San Antonio River—the famous Riverwalk is one of the premiere visitors’ attractions in the city. The Riverwalk is filled with many restaurants and shops. You can travel the river in River taxis, or just walk the beautiful sidewalks and bridges. The room rate is $109.00 per day, plus tax. Additional information will be published when available. Members of the Chosin Few are Army and Marine survivors of the Korean War Battle at Chosin Reservoir in November-December 1950.
September 6-9, 2012: The 93rd Reunion of the Society of the 3rd Infantry Division will be held in Savannah, Georgia, at the De Soto hotel. With Ft. Stewart nearby, this will be a great reunion. Make your plans to attend now. Updates will be published as they become available.
November 11, 2012: Veterans Day Ceremony Chateau-Thierry, France
November 15, 2012:  95th 3rd ID Birthday celebration in Ft Myer Officer's Club with wreath laying at Tomb of the Unknowns and the 3rd ID monument and many 3rd ID fallen comrades in Arlington National Cemetery, VA
December 1, 2012: Outpost #5 will meet at 76 House. More details will appear in later issues of the Watch, or you can contact Bart Viruso. See page 31 for Bart’s contact information.

It was found in the effects of the son of Cornelius Dexter, who was a member of the 3rd in the WWI. He was a Purple Heart recipient.
