The 2013 94th Society of the
3ID Reunion
will be held near Chicago,
IL
at the Westin Hotel -
Lombard, IL
Dates for the 2013 Reunion are:
Thursday, September 12th thru Sunday, September 15th |
Scheduled to appear at the Reunion
Banquet on Saturday, September 14th are MG Robert Abrams and BG John
Hort of the 3rd Infantry Division.
Also an invitation to Congresswoman
Tammy Duckworth of the 8th congressional district has been
given to her and hopefully, she will be able to appear at our 94th
Reunion banquet dinner on Sept. 14th.
Duckworth previously
served as Assistant Secretary for Public and Intergovernmental
Affairs in the United States Department of Veterans Affairs from
April 24, 2009 to June 30, 2011, and as the Director of the Illinois
Department of Veterans Affairs from November 21, 2006 to February 8,
2009.
An Iraq War veteran, Duckworth served as a U.S. Army
helicopter pilot and suffered severe combat wounds, losing both of
her legs and damaging her right arm. She was the first female double
amputee from the war. She continues to serve as a Lieutenant Colonel
in the Illinois Army National Guard along with her husband, Major
Bryan W. Bowlsbey, a signal officer and fellow Iraq War veteran. |

will conduct wreath-laying ceremonies at the
Tomb of the Unknowns and
at the 3rd
Infantry Division Monument in
Arlington National Cemetery.
The ceremony is at 4:45 PM. Please arrive 30 minutes beforehand.

June 22, 2013:
The annual Audie
Murphy Day celebration in Farmersville, Texas, will honor
and recognize area Veterans while celebrating and remembering Audie
Murphy, our “hometown hero.” This is the fourteenth year
Farmersville has presented this Main Street Program event, which was
named “Best Promotional Event” by the Texas Downtown Association.
Popular events include a flyover, parade, special program, reception
for Veterans, and military displays. 7:30 AM to 9:00 AM: Vets check
in at the Baptist Church (124 S. Washington Street) to enjoy
refreshments and time to visit with attendees. 10:00 AM: military
flyover followed by downtown parade; 10:45 AM: Program at the Onion
Shed—reserved seating for Veterans (historical remembrance of Audie
Murphy, roll call of local Vets, and guest speakers). For more

members who plan to attend.

July 26, 2013: Wildflecken,
Germany is celebrating 75 years since the establishment of the
training area, 50 years since the arrival of the 2-15th Infantry and
30 years since its departure. In conjunction with a festival and
commemorative events, the village will dedicate a plaque honoring
2-15th Infantry and the other US units stationed at Wildflecken over
the years. Those interested in attending should contact Tim Stoy for

29, 2013: Outpost #35
will conduct its summer meeting, hosted by Marco Montoya, at Sushi
Japon restaurant, on Interstate 35 in Austin, Texas. We will gather
at 11:00 AM for a social hour with lunch at the Hibachi grill, at
12:00 PM, and a meeting to follow. The cost is $15.00 per person.

July 2013:
Outpost #5 is planning
its next rendezvous in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, one weekend in
July. Projection cost will be approximately $35.00 per person, which
will include a bus tour of the Battlefield and luncheon. I will get
prices on a Bed and Breakfast for anyone interested in staying
overnight. Please notify me as soon as possible so I can make
arrangements if you are coming and let me know how many people you
