The American flag was officially raised over the
Zeppelin Stadium Hazenkreuz in Nuremberg on April 21, 1945. Nuremberg was
the scene of yearly Nazi Party rallies from 1933-1938. Zeppelin Stadium was
built by Albert Speer from 1934-1937.
The Zeppelinfeld Hakenkreuz gets the boot in Nuremberg
courtesy of the 120th Engineers. Deep inside Germany by April of 1945,
advancing armies were quickly unraveling the last of the "Thousand-year
Reich".
